Pinterest GIF Downloader

Paste a pin link and save the animated GIF in original quality.

pinterest.com/pin/… · pin.it/…

Paste a link to an animated Pinterest pin in the box above and press Download. You get the original GIF file of the pin, not a still picture. In our test, 4 of 4 GIF pins came out as real animated GIFs with 11–48 frames, up to 1080×1920. No app or account needed.

How to save a GIF from Pinterest

1

Copy the pin link. On a phone, open the pin in the Pinterest app, tap Share, then Copy link. You get a short link that starts with pin.it. On a computer, open the pin and copy the address from the browser bar. It looks like pinterest.com/pin/ followed by a long number. Both kinds of link go into the same box.

Press Download once. Our server asks Pinterest for the pin and finds the GIF in it. Wait for the result under the box. Don't press again: every press is one more request toward the hourly limit.

Save the file. Press Download on the result card. The GIF comes as one file in its original size. On a computer the browser puts the GIF in the Downloads folder. On Android, Chrome saves it to the Download folder of the phone.

On iPhone, look in Files. Safari saves downloaded files to the Files app, in the Downloads folder by default, and not to Photos.

How big is a Pinterest GIF, and does it stay animated?

Pintergrab saves an animated Pinterest pin as its original GIF file, not as a still picture and not as a video. We do not compress it, resize it or put a watermark on it. On 18 October 2026 we tested 4 public animated pins, and all 4 downloaded. An image tool counted 11 to 48 frames in each file, so every one was a real animated GIF. The frames were 750×375, 480×1067 and, for two of the pins, 1080×1920. The files weighed 2.27–8.56 MB, with a median of 3.93 MB. Checking a pin took 2.09–2.80 s. A GIF has no sound. The MP4 column of the table shows the same GIF as a smaller MP4, after our converter. We timed everything from our own test server, so on your connection the time will be different.

Median times: 2.44 s to check the pin, 1.03 s to download. The weight of a GIF depends on the frame size as much as on the number of frames. GIF 3 has only 11 frames, yet it weighs twice as much as GIF 2 with 32 frames, because its frames are much larger.

What usually goes wrong

The GIF does not move after download. The files in our test were all animated. If yours looks still, the app that shows it may play only the first frame. Open the file in a browser tab to see the animation. If you need a video file instead, save the same GIF as a smaller MP4.

The pin is not a GIF. A pin with sound is a video, and a pin that does not move is a still image. For video pins use our main downloader, which saves them as MP4. For still images use the image page, which saves the original file.

The pin was deleted or the link is broken. The card then says "This pin is deleted, private or has no file." Open the link in Pinterest first. If Pinterest shows nothing, the GIF is gone, and no downloader can get it back.

The link is not from Pinterest. A link to an ordinary web page gets "Please paste a valid Pinterest link." The page sends nothing in this case. A link our server turns down gets "This link is not from a supported site." Both come with the hint "Open the pin, tap Share → Copy link and paste it here."

You hit the hourly limit. One IP address can send 41 pin requests per hour, and the counter starts again at the top of each clock hour. The 42nd request gets "Limit reached: 41 requests per hour." even with a good link. The hint under it gives the reset time by your clock, and your link stays in the field. On shared Wi-Fi many people go out through one IP address and use up the same 41 requests.

Pinterest did not answer. Sometimes Pinterest does not respond to our server in time, and the card says "The source did not respond." Wait a minute and press Try again.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save a GIF from Pinterest on iPhone?

Copy the pin link with Share, then Copy link in the Pinterest app. Paste it here in Safari, press Download, then press Download on the result card. Safari puts the GIF in the Files app, in the Downloads folder by default.

How do I save a GIF from Pinterest on Android?

Copy the pin link from the Share menu and paste it here in Chrome. Press Download under the box, then Download on the result card. Chrome saves the GIF to the Download folder of the phone, and you open it from the file manager.

How come my Pinterest GIF does not move after download?

The file is animated: in our test every GIF had more than one frame. Some apps show only the first frame of a GIF. Open the file in a browser to check it. If you need a video file, save the same pin as MP4.

Is GIF or MP4 better for sharing?

It depends on where the file goes. A GIF usually repeats by itself and opens as a picture. An MP4 is a video file and weighs much less: in our test the MP4 came to 4.6–12.7% of the same GIF. Neither of them has sound, because a GIF pin has none.

Can I download a GIF from a private board?

No. Pintergrab does not sign in to Pinterest, so it sees only public pins. A pin on a secret board is visible only to the board owner and the people invited to it.

Is the GIF the same file as on Pinterest?

Yes. Pintergrab saves the original file of the pin. We do not compress it, resize it or put a watermark on it. In our test each downloaded GIF matched the size of the original to the byte.

Do I need an app or an account?

No. Everything happens on this page in the browser. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.
